I majored in economics and business management at university. After graduating in 1972, I worked as an auditor in a local accounting firm in Hong Kong for several years, before joining the audit department of Overseas Trust Bank. In the audit department, my role involved assisting in the review of deposits, loans, and management operations across head and branch offices. On my first day at work, I felt quite anxious, fearing that the Japanese managing director might assign me tasks I was unfamiliar with immediately. Fortunately, the director instructed me to prepare a business development plan. From that point, I eagerly sought to intensively study the processes for bills of exchange and loans. Luckily, the company had a recently retired Mr. Leung from Overseas Trust Bank temporarily stationed there. Mr. Leung was a senior expert in bills of exchange. After two weeks of rigorous training, I caught up. Within two months, my work was on track, and I successfully introduced parts of Overseas Trust Bank's operational model to Daiwa.
### Training and Business Expansion
From then on, I accumulated experience through daily practical work, further solidifying my knowledge and foundation in financial matters. I gained deep insights and expertise in credit management, bills of exchange, and business promotion. Between 1982 and 1990, I was invited by various institutions and organizations, including the Hong Kong Management Association (HKMA), the Bank of China Training Centre, United Overseas Bank, the Chinese Importers' and Exporters' Association, and Hong Kong Polytechnic, to lecture on banking operations. At the time, Ying Chi Kit had purchased six floors and thus held naming rights, but ultimately opted against naming it Ying Chi Kit Building and chose to name it after Queen Elizabeth instead.
